Firebirds Fall to Griffins in Road Match Up

LAFAYETTE HILL, PA- the University of the District of Columbia's men's lacrosse team fell to Chestnut Hill College 3-19, on the road. The Firebirds slip to 1-5 on the season while the Griffins improve to 3-3.

Three Firebirds were able to get on the scoreboard, Maxwell Hansberry, Julian Schemm and Zakai Robinson It was a slow start for both sides as the first goal came a little under six minutes into the first quarter. The Firebirds had two good looks but both were saved by the Griffin's goalkeeper. CHC scored three back to back goals. Maxwell Hansberry got UDC on the scoreboard early in the second quarter after netting the feed from Dylan Donaldson to cut the deficit to two.The rest of the quarter was all Griffins, scoring three unanswered goals to go into half-time with an 8-1 lead. Julian Schemm broke the scoring drought for UDC striking first in the third quarter but the Firebirds third and final goal of the day wouldn't come until late in the fourth quarter. The Firebirds were plagued with turnovers (30) and struggled on the offensive side, taking only 18 shots compared to the Griffins 47. CHC also led in ground balls (39-16). Jordan McTeer went 12-24 in face-off's.  Up next, UDC (1-5) will head to Mercy University this Saturday to open conference play. The game is slated to begin at 3:00PM.
