Bridgeport, Conn.-The University of Bridgeport women's soccer team got back in the win column on Wednesday night and evened its overall season record at 2-2-2 with an impressive 2-0 home non-conference win over the visiting Molloy University Lions (2-2-3).
The Purple Knights netted a goal in each half on Wednesday nights, as junior Kate Thill (Goetzingen, Luxembourg) scored her second goal of 2023 just 11:40 into play off a lovely assist from class mate Sandra Pedersen.
Thill then assisted on her team's final goal of the match to give her a three-point night, when she fed Brooke Boucher (Harrow, Canada) in the 57th minute, as she slotted home her second goal of the year.
Bridgeport outshot Molloy, 11-10, on the night, and the Lions finished with a 6-1 advantage in corner kicks.
The UB defense was strong on Wednesday night led by freshman goalkeeper Antia Lopez (Galicia, Spain), who in her first collegiate start made four saves to pick up the shutout, the team's second clean sheet of the season.
Up next, the UB women's soccer team returns to Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference play on Saturday, when the Purple Knights head to Delaware to take on Goldey-Beacom College. Game time is set for 12 noon.
