Indiana (Pa.) Defeats Women’s Tennis, 6-1

GREENSBURG, Pa. - - In a matchup of teams in consideration for their respective regional tournaments, Indiana (Pa.) got the better of the Wilmington University women's tennis team, 6-1, on Friday afternoon at the Greensburg Racquet Club.

Indiana (Pa.) is now 12-8 overall and in consideration to make the NCAA DII Atlantic Regional Tournament while the Wildcats are now 15-5 overall and are in the NCAA DII East Regional Tournament by virtue of winning the CACC Tournament.

The Wildcats Marley Trifunovic and Alva Norberg won at No. 2 doubles, 6-3, but the Crimson Hawks took the point by winning at No. 3, 6-0, and No. 1, 6-3.

Jess Purdy battled back after dropping the first set, 6-2, at No. 2 singles, winning 6-3 and 6-2 to give the Wildcats a point.

But the rest of the afternoon went to the Hawks, as they won in straight sets at No. 1, No. 4., and No. 5 singles to lead, 4-0, and win the match. Valentina Ivankovic battled back to win the second set, 7-5, to force a third set, but the Crimson Hawk's Dani Ramos won the third, 6-4, to win the match.

The Wildcats have one match remaining in their 2023-24 regular season, making up a postponed game at the District of Columbia. They makeup date is set for Sunday afternoon in Washington, D.C., with the first serve set for 12:00 p.m.
