WOMEN'S SOCCER FALLS IN OVERTIME IN CACC QUARTERFINALS
Philadelphia, Pa. (11/5/23) The fifth-seeded Dominican University New York women's soccer team fell in overtime to the fourth-seeded Tigers of Holy Family University, 3-0, this afternoon in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Tournament Quarterfinal game played on Tiger Field.
The Lady Chargers conclude the season with an overall record of 6-7-3, while the Tigers improve to 7-7-3 and advance to the CACC Semifinals.
Holy Family broke the deadlock in the 93rd minute of play in the first overtime via a penalty kick and added a second score at the 97:17 mark.
The Tigers scored a third goal 3:33 into the second extra period on a shot from the right side for the eventual 3-0 victory.
Both teams recorded 20 shots during the game with the Lady Chargers putting three shots on goal, including a near goal in the 88th minute but the Tiger keeper was able to punch the ball over the net. DUNY recorded three shots in the first extra period and one in the second.
Stella Koster (Saarbruecken, Germany) and Kaitlyn Zeeb (Piscataway, N.J.) tallied five shots each in the contest.
Keeper Lauren Drummond (Kitchener, Ontario, Canada) made six saves.
