Wildcats Use 11 Goal Scorers to Defeat Felician, 29-9

NEWARK, Del. - - The Wilmington University men's lacrosse team used 11 different goal scorers to set a new program record with 29 goals in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference victory over Felician at the WU Athletics Complex on Saturday afternoon.

The 29 goals are a new team record, surpassing the 27 the Wildcats (5-3, 4-0 CACC) scored earlier this season against Holy Family.

It was a 7-0 run that helped distance the Wildcats from the Golden Falcons (3-6, 0-3 CACC), turning a 7-5 lead into a 14-5 lead with 6:07 to play in the second quarter.

Felician stuck around in the first quarter, going on a 3-1 run to close to within 5-4 with 2:55 to play in the frame. TJ Caton and Josh Weston sandwiched four goals around a Felician mark, closing the quarter on a 4-1 run, including the final two goals, to take a 9-5 lead.

The run continued into the second quarter, as five different goal scorers found the back of the net. Josh Weston, Logan Stinson, TJ Caton, Miles Crouse, and Jacob Herman all scored, pushing the lead out to 14-5 with 6:07 to play before the halftime break. Weston and Crouse scored the final two goals of the second quarter as well, as the Wildcats took a 16-6 lead into the halftime break.

Felician scored to start the third quarter, but then the Wildcats rattled off four straight to open a 20-7 lead. Stinson, Caton, and Sergio Romero closed the third quarter with consecutive goals as the Wildcats extended the lead to 23-8.

Gavin Paraschak, Lou Savino, and Joshua Leavery all scored in the fourth quarter, making it 11 different goal scorers for the Wildcats. Jon Gaglione got on the scoreboard with a goal in the first quarter.

Logan Stinson led the offense with six goals and two assists while Jacob Herman added eight points with a goal and seven assists. Josh Weston finished with six goals while TJ Caton added five goals and two assists. Miles Crouse chipped in with three goals and an assist while Sergio Romero and Joshua Leavery each scored twice. Brendan Leonard led the defense with five caused turnovers.

The Wildcats went 29-for-40 at the spot in the game, with Carnell Lofton Jr going 20-for-25, Connor Widmer going 4-for-7, and Lou Savino going 5-for-8.

The Wildcats take to the road for their next contest, as they head to Caldwell, New Jersey, to take on the Cougars on Wednesday afternoon. The opening face-off is set for 4:00 p.m.
