Women's Basketball Clipped by Post, 72-64
Purple Knights fall to 4-3 inside the CACC this season.
BRIDGEPORT, Conn. – Coming off two consecutive wins, the University of Bridgeport's women's basketball team was defeated by Post University on Tuesday by a score of 72-64. The narrow loss shifts the Purple Knights' CACC record to 4-3 this season.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
Bridgeport was led by a pair of terrific performances. Senior Stephanie McBride was once again the Purple Knights' leading scorer as she poured in 20 points on 9-of-16 shooting. She also grabbed 13 rebounds to secure her third consecutive double-double.
Freshman Harmony Earth-Wiley was equally as productive. The Michigan native achieved career highs in both points (18) and rebounds (9) while narrowly missing out on her first career double-double.
Looking for a spark off the bench, Samirah Akinwunmi served as Bridgeport's third-leading scorer with eight points.
The Purple Knights finished 27-of-65 (41.5%) from the field, including a five-for-16 (31.3%) clip from three-point range. Bridgeport outscored Post in the paint by a 34-18 margin.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Purple Knights enjoyed their highest scoring half of the season as they grabbed a 40-39 lead at the break.
Bridgeport stretched that one-point edge to 44-39 before a 10-0 spurt from Post provided the Eagles with a 5-point lead of their own with 3:23 remaining in the third quarter.
Down 54-50 at the end of three, the Purple Knights were unable to get any closer than four points the rest of the way. Post held at least an eight-point edge across the final 3:31 of regulation.
