Manchester, N.H. – The University of Bridgeport women's basketball team fell victim to the high-octane Southern New Hampshire University offense 47-73 on Saturday. The Penmen overpowered the Purple Knights with 23 points off turnovers, 16 better than UB's seven points from turnovers. The non-conference loss drops Bridgeport overall season record to 2-8.
UB started slow, trailing SNHU 5-21 after 10 minutes of play. They stepped things up offensively, hitting double digits in the three subsequent quarters but could not close the gap with the Penmen keeping them at arm's length.
Bridgeport's offense was led by Shakira Hester (Sr., Bronx, N.Y.) with 15 points, eight rebounds, two blocks, two steals and an assist.
Senior Ayanna Brown (Brooklyn, N.Y.) chipped in eight points, four rebounds and one assist.
Harmony Earth-Wiley (Fr., Troy, Mich.) added six points, six rebounds and one assist.
Up next, UB will play their final road game of 2023 as they head back to New Hampshire on Tuesday, December 19th at 2:00 p.m. as they face off with Franklin Pierce University.
