Holy Family's Kelly Brady and Bloomfield's Iman Williams Earn Weekly Honors
NEW HAVEN, Conn. (December 3, 2012) – Holy Family's Kelly Brady (Ocean City, N.J.) has been selected as the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) women's basketball player of the week ending December 2, 2012. Bloomifield freshman, Iman Williams (Chesapeake, VA) was selected as the Women's Basketball Rookie of the Week.

Kelly Brady, Holy Family (Sr., F, Ocean City, N.J.) –
Major: Special/Elementary
Education
The 5'10 senior from Ocean City scored a career-high 23
points in a 75-60 victory over Georgian Court last Wednesday and
added eleven rebounds to record her 3rd double-double on
the season.
Brady averaged 12.7 points, connected on 56.7 percent of her shots from the field and averaged eight rebounds, 1.3 assists and 1.7 steals per game. Her solid performance aided Holy Family to a 3-0 week with victories over St. Thomas Aquinas (54-35), Georgian Court (75-60) and Dominican (74-48).

BASKETBALL ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
Iman Williams, Bloomfield (Fr., F, Chesapeake, Va.) –
Major: Undeclared
Williams led the Lady Deacons in scoring in each of the
team's two games this week, in which the club went 2-0 to begin
their conference schedule on a two-game winning streak. The
freshman from Chesapeake came off the bench in both games to
average 14 points and 7.5 rebounds per game.

Monique Chance, Post (Sr., F, Brooklyn, N.Y.) – Major:

Chance tallied her first double-double of the season
with 15 points and 10 rebounds in an 86-75 win over Wilmington on
Saturday. She notched seven defensive rebounds and went a
perfect 5-for-5 from the free throw line.
Brianne Traub, USciences (So., G, Wayne, N.J.) –
Major: Pharmacy
The sophomore recorded her second consecutive
double-double West Chester, netting 20 points and 12 rebounds
in a 62-59 loss at home. Traub followed up that solid
performance by leading her team to an 81-63 victory over Wilmington
with 19 points and four rebounds, and scored 22 points and seven
rebounds in a 72-56 victory against Nyack.
Kristen Blye, Philadelphia U. (Sr., F, Chester Springs,
PA) – Major: Finance
After scoring 15 points and pulling in seven rebounds
in a 69-60 loss at home to Millersville, Kristen tied her best
offensive effort of this season by scoring 23 points in a 78-70 win
at Felician. The senior forward finished out the week
averaging 19 points, seven rebounds and 1.5 assists.
Torey Jones, Caldwell (Sr. G, Providence, RI) –
Major: Psychology
Jones turned in a pair of solid performances for Caldwell
as her team went 1-1 on the week with a 73-57 loss at Dominican and
an 87-71 win against Georgian Court. At Dominican, Torey
tallied 31 points on 61.5 percent shooting from the floor and a
perfect 14-of-14 from the line in the loss. The senior then
registered 28 points, five rebounds and five assists while shooting
47.6 percent from the field and 75 percent from behind the arc in
the victory over Georgian Court. For the weekend, Torey also
connected on all 16 of her attempted free throws.

BASKETBALL TEAM NOTES
BLOOMFIELD - The Lady Deacons improved to 3-1 on
the season with a 2-0 week, picking up conference victories over
CACC rivals Nyack College and Chestnut Hill College. Rookie
forward Iman Williams (Chesapeake, Va.) led the Lady Deacons in
scoring in each of the two contests, coming off the bench to notch
13 points in the victory over Nyack Wednesday and 15 points in
a reserve role to help Bloomfield defeat Chestnut Hill
Saturday. Junior guard Ivettlis Castro (Carteret, N.J.) came
off the bench to help Bloomfield down Nyack with a season-high 13
points off the bench Wednesday night, going 3-8 from beyond the arc
to help key the victory. Rookies Ariel Wilson (Chesapeake,
Va.) and Nahja Carter (Neptune, N.J.) each totaled eight points in
the win over Chestnut Hill Saturday, with Wilson adding nine
rebounds, two assists and a game-high six steals in a standout
all-around effort.
CALDWELL - The Cougars opened CACC play last week, losing at Dominican on Wednesday and beating Georgian Court on Saturday in the Newman Center. Caldwell fell to the Lady Chargers, 73-57 despite 31 points from senior guard Torey Jones, who was 8-of-13 from the field and a perfect 14-of-14 from the free throw line. It was the fourth career 30-point game for Jones, who now ranks seventh on Caldwell's all-time scoring list with 1,483 career points. Jones stayed hot into Saturday's game with Georgian Court, hitting 6-of-8 from three-point range en route to 28 points in an 87-71 victory. Junior forward Jeanette Anderson also stood out with 20 points and a career-best 16 rebounds for her eighth double-double in 10 games this season. Senior center Gillian Felix added 15 points, while sophomore guard Jessica Coscia dished out seven assists. The Cougars hit the road to face Post on Tuesday and Goldey-Beacom on Saturday in a pair of league games this week.
CHESTNUT HILL - The Griffins resumed their CACC schedule this week with a weekend contest against Bloomfield College. The Deacons had a tough time settling into Sorgenti Arena, as the Griffins led 16-3 after the first ten minutes of the CACC contest. Once on the scoreboard, the Deacons slowly chipped away at the Griffin lead, briefly leading before halftime, 19-18, and again in the final minutes to claim an eventual 47-42 victory. The Deacons won with a balanced effort, while the Griffins were led by senior guard Latoya Laing (Snellville, Ga.), 11 points, and junior center Aimee Bouie (New Castle, Del.), ten points, nine rebounds, and two blocks.
CONCORDIA - Concordia finished the week with a 0-2 record as the Clippers fell to Felician and Goldey-Beacom. Concordia scored a season-high nine three-points baskets in their loss at Felician and then in their game against Goldey-Beacom they shot a season-low 25.0% (13-of-52) from the field. For the upcoming week the Clippers will travel to Nyack on Tuesday, NYIT on Thursday and then visit Holy Family on Saturday.
DOMINICAN - The women's basketball team went 1-1 in action last week to now stand at 4-4 overall and 2-1 in conference play. The Lady Chargers topped Caldwell College, but fell to Holy Family University. This week, DC will host the University of the Sciences on Saturday afternoon.
GOLDEY-BEACOM - With a 71-45 victory over Concordia on Friday night, the Lightning snapped a five-game losing streak and earned their first CACC victory of the season. Now 4-5 overall and 1-1 in the CACC, the Lightning shot 42.4 per cent from the field in the victory and held the Clippers to just 25 percent shooting. Senior guard Ashley Rosario led the Lightning with a season-high 13 points by making 6 of 10 field goal attempts off the bench. Meanwhile, junior guard Briana Richmond-Peters grabbed a career-high 10 rebounds for the Lightning, who had a 47-38 advantage on the boards against the Clippers. The Lightning, who played eight of their first nine games on the road, will begin a two-game home stand on Tuesday against Georgian Court before hosting Caldwell on Saturday afternoon.
GEORGIAN COURT – The Lions dropped a home game against Holy Family (75-60) and lost at Caldwell (87-71). Shauneia McPhearson (Sr.-Chicago, IL.) averaged 17.5 ppg in Georgian Court's two outings, netting a team-high 16 points Wednesday vs. Holy Family and tying a season-best 19 points Saturday at Caldwell. Georgian Court will return to play this Tuesday at Goldey-Beacom.
PHILADELPHIA - Philadelphia went 1-1 last week with a non-conference loss to Millersville (69-60) and a CACC win at Felician (78-70). Senior forward Kristen Blye (Chester Springs, Pa./Downingtown East) was the Rams' leading scorer in both contests, scoring a season-high 23 points at Felician and 15 points against Millersville. The Rams host 14th-ranked Holy Family on Tuesday and head to Nyack on Saturday.
USCIENCES - The Devils won their third consecutive conference game on Saturday defeating Nyack College. Sophomore Brianne Traub (Wayne, N.J.) reached the 20-point mark for the third time in the Devils last four games. Traub also recorded her second consecutive double-double this week with 20 points and 12 rebounds against West Chester University. Jessica Sylvester's (Trevose, Pa.) three-point field goal against Nyack moved her into a tie for tenth place on the Devils' all-time list with 66 for her career. As a team, the Devils recorded a season-high 18 steals against Nyack.
Next week, Sciences has two road games, a non-conference game against Cheyney University on Wednesday and a conference cross-over game at Dominican College on Saturday.
WILMINGTON - The Wildcats completed their season opening eight game road trip this week with a loss at Bloomsburg and a pair of CACC losses to USciences and Post. Tenicia Spence poured in a season high 23 points at Bloomsburg, who received votes in the latest NABC Coaches' Poll, and added 20 at Post to make it six of the first eight games in which she scored at least 20 points. Senior Danielle Thomas scored a team high 21 points against USciences and averaged 12 points per game for the week, hitting six three-pointers in the three games. The Wildcats outscored Post in the second half by nine points, but it was too little too late as the visitors faced a 20-point halftime deficit. The Wildcats finally get to open the WU Athletics Complex with their first home game on Tuesday against Chestnut Hill before facing Washington Adventist on Thursday and heading to Felician on Saturday.
