BLOOMFIELD, N.J. - The Bloomfield College's women's basketball team will hold their annual 'Play 4Kay' event Saturday, February 9, when they welcome CACC South Division rival Wilmington University for a late-season conference contest.
In honor of the Women's Basketball Coach's Association (WBCA) and the Kay Yow Cancer Fund's partnership to raise awareness for women's cancers, the Lady Deacons will do their part in recognizing this great cause against the Wildcats. All proceeds from the day's event will be donated to the Kay Yow Cancer Fund, and donations can also be made at the entrance to the gym throughout the afternoon. Both teams will feature pink uniform accessories to honor the fund and the 'Play 4Kay' event, with the women's basketball program also honoring a Breast Cancer survivor at halftime of the day's game. All fans who plan on attending the day's action are encouraged to wear pink attire in honor of the festivities.
"This is always such a great event each year, and it is for such an outstanding and worthy cause," Bloomfield head coach Jerry Wimberly said. "The Kay Yow Cancer Fund has been at the forefront of Cancer awareness and raising funds for research, and we feel privileged to have the opportunity to help. We strongly encourage everyone to come out on February 9 and support this great event."
Tip-off for the contest against Wilmington is scheduled for 1 p.m. Fans who cannot make the game can still donate to the Kay Yow Foundation by visiting the official Bloomfield College team fundraising page at the Kay Yow Cancer Fund website.
