Holy Family's Erin Mann Named CACC Student-Athlete of the Month
NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Holy Family University senior forward Erin Mann (West Chester, Pa.) has been named the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Student-Athlete of the Month for February as announced today by CACC Commissioner Dan Mara. Last weekend, the 6’1” center led the Tigers to its second-straight CACC Championship and will guide Holy Family to its tenth-straight NCAA appearance at Bentley University beginning Friday, March 15 vs. Assumption College.
Mann, the 2013 CACC Women’s Basketball Player of the Year, became the third player in program history to record at least 1,600 points and 800 rebounds in a career. In the month of February, the 2013 CACC Women’s Basketball Tournament Most Valuable Player averaged 20.5 points, 8.2 rebounds and 2.5 blocks per game while shooting over 46% from the field and 78.7-percent from the free throw line. Mann currently ranks first in the CACC in shooting percentage (.533) and blocks (86), while ranking second in points per game (18.4), third in made free throws (133) and seventh in rebounds per game (8.4). She is a three time All-CACC selection and Daktronics All-Region selection.
Off the court, the Sports Marketing-Management major is currently touting a 3.31 grade point average and was named to the CoSIDA/Capital One Academic All-District 1 First team in 2013. In addition to her outstanding efforts in the classroom and on the court, Mann is a member of the Holy Family Student-Athlete Advisory Committee and is active with her teammates in a program called ‘Friends of Jacqueline’. This program enables local sports teams to “improve the quality of life for children with pediatric brain tumors,” according to the organization’s web site. This year, the Tigers “adopted” eleven-year old Arianna Barricelli who was diagnosed with optic nerve glioima. Arianna continues to participate from the sidelines as the team’s biggest fan.
The CACC Student-Athlete of the Month is awarded from September through May to select student-athletes who excel in athletics, the classroom and the community.
