CHC Downs Post 4-0 to Reach CACC MTEN Final
2022 CACC MEN'S TENNIS CHAMPIONSHIP CENTRAL
NEW HAVEN, Conn. (April 19, 2022) -- Second-seeded Chestnut Hill College downed third-seeded Post University, 4-0, on Tuesday afternoon in Philadelphia during the first round of the 2022 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Men's Tennis Championship. The Griffins advanced to Friday's CACC Championship Final where they will face top-seeded Thomas Jefferson University at 12 p.m. The final will also be contested at CHC.
CHC and Jefferson shared the CACC Regular Season Championship in 2022 with identical 7-1 conference records. Both teams split their regular season series, but Jefferson won the tiebreaker for the tournament's No. 1 seed due to the larger margin of victory compared to the Griffins.
Chestnut Hill captured the doubles team point by winning at the No. 1 and No. 2 matches. The top team of Tom Pitchley and Joseph Gregory Kvint defeated Post's Cooper Smith and Anton Andersson, 6-3, while the No. 2 unit of Noah Cutting and Mark Gladkyy earned a 6-1 triumph over Nin Krneta and Gustavo Kerber.
The Griffins got singles wins at No. 2, 3 and 4 to cap the first-round victory. All three matches were decided in straight sets with Cutting victorious at No. 2, Kvint winning at No. 3 and Joao Sousa capturing the win at No. 4. Kvint's win at No. 3 was the fourth and final point Chestnut Hill needed to reach Friday's final.
