Two Lower Seeds Advancing Highlights Monday's MSOC Quarterfinals
2023 CACC MEN'S SOCCER CHAMPIONSHIP CENTRAL
NEW HAVEN, Conn. (November 6, 2023) -- Two lower seeds advancing on Monday highlighted the quarterfinal round of the 2023 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Men's Soccer Championship at the sites of the highest seeds.
Fifth-seeded Thomas Jefferson University knocked off fourth-seeded Wilmington University, 2-1, and will face top-seeded and four-time defending league champion Post University, as the Eagles handed No. 8 Goldey-Beacom College a 4-1 setback in Waterbury.
Seventh-seed Georgian Court University played second-seeded Felician University to a 2-2 draw after 110 minutes, but outscored the Golden Falcons, 6-5, in penalty kicks to advance to the semifinals. GCU will take on third-seeded University of Bridgeport as the Purple Knights went for an 8-2 victory over sixth-seed Caldwell University.
Post and Jefferson will play in Friday evening's first semifinal at 4 p.m., at Knights Field on the UB campus in Bridgeport, Conn. GCU and UB will square off at 7 p.m., in the day's second semifinal showdown.

Artiz Uriate scored a pair of goals, while Gentian Selimi and Luca Dettoli each added a marker, as all four strikes were scored in the opening 45 minutes to spark the Eagles to victory. Oliver Person scored for the Lightning in the second half. Post outshot G-B, 13-9, and put nine of those 13 attempts on net.
NO. 5 JEFFERSON 2, NO. 4 WILMINGTON 1 | Boxscore
Gabe Paz sandwiched a pair of goals around a WilmU marker and it was all the Rams needed to pull off the road upset of the fourth-seeded Wildcats. Matteo Crescente made the two strikes stand up, as he stopped nine of 10 shots faced to help backstop the Rams to victory. Jeremie Briquet scored WilmU's lone tally.
NO. 7 GEORGIAN COURT 2, NO. FELICIAN 2 (GCU advances via PKs, 6-5) | Boxscore
GCU outscored Felician, 6-5, in penalty kicks to propel the Lions to the upset advancement over the second-seeded Golden Falcons. Tim Wilk scored the final PK for the Lions and then Fabio Krissler stoned Emanuele Moretti immediately following to lift GCU into the semis. Sebastian Derfinger and Mathias Madersbacher each scored in regulation and both added a PK goal as well to help spark the Lions. GCU went up 2-0 in the first half, but Felician rallied with a pair of markers in the second 45 minutes to extend into extra minutes. Andy Alvarez and Alex Ramos each scored for Felician.
NO. 3 BRIDGEPORT 8, NO. 6 CALDWELL 2 | Boxscore
Maximilian Kissel went for a quartet of goals to spark the Purple Knights to the quarterfinal win. He also added an assist to complete a nine-point afternoon. Lapo Romieri added two goals for UB as well. Bridgeport outshot Caldwell, 23-11, and were able to log 13 shots on goal. UB limited the Cougars to just four shots on net.
