RUTHERFORD, N.J. - A nine-game spring break trip to Clermont, Fla., highlights the non-conference portion of the 2009 Felician College softball schedule, which was released today.
Felician has 45 games slated for this spring, with all of the "northern" contests against East Region Division-II opponents. The 24-game Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference docket includes doubleheaders against two squads, Caldwell College (away, Apr. 15) and Georgian Court University (home, Mar. 28), that finished among the top 25 in last year's final national ranking.
Led by eighth-year head coach Kathy Hill, Felician begins the season at the National Training Center Spring Games from Mar. 8-13. The home opener is a Mar. 19 twinbill against Concordia (N.Y.) College, and two days later the Golden Falcons entertain Chestnut Hill College to begin CACC action.
"The conference continues to improve each year," Hill said. "We are excited to start a new season with many returning veterans and a few promising freshmen. We have set our goals to have a more successful season than last year, including a conference playoff seed."
The Golden Falcons were 16-23 in 2008 and finished seventh in the CACC. They missed the league tournament for the first time in four years.
