NEW HAVEN, CT - Philadelphia University's Jessica Romano has garnered Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Women's Basketball Player of the Week accolades for the week ending Sunday, March 8. Romano was named MVP of the CACC Tournament on Saturday evening after leading her team to the title with a victory over Wilmington University.
Romano, a 6-0 junior center from Horsham, PA, averaged 22.7 points, 10.3 rebounds and shot 55.9-percent (19-of-34) from the field and 88.2-percent (30-of-34) from the free-throw line in three tournament games. She tallied 29 points and 13 rebounds in the CACC Championship game against Wilmington.

Jasmine Minter, Nyack (Jr., PG, 5-10, Richmond, VA) - Registered 20 points, nine rebounds and six assists as Nyack defeated Mt. Vernon Nazarene to advance to the NCCAA National Tournament this week.
Kim Parker, Wilmington (Jr., G, 5-6, New Castle, DE) - Led Wilmington to the CACC Championship game by averaging 17.0 points and 3.0 assists per-game.
Althea Chambers, Dominican (Sr., G, 5-7, Yonkers, NY) - In two CACC Tourney games, averaged 22.0 points and 8.0 rebounds per-game.
CACC Notes
Holy Family - Holy Family will makes its sixth consecutive appearance in the Division II NCAA Women's Basketball Championship Tournament after earning the second seed in the East Region on Sunday night. Holy Family will also be the host institution for the eight-team regional that gets underway on Friday, March 13. The Tigers will take on seventh-seeded Queens (N.Y), the East Coast Conference champion, in the opening round. Holy Family was given an at-large bid into the tournament after falling in the opening round of the CACC Tournament, 67-64 to Wilmington (Del.) on Tuesday, March 3. Center Christine McCollum paced Holy Family with 15 points and 14 rebounds. It was the first time that Holy Family lost to a conference opponent in 66 games and the first home loss to a CACC team since the 2004 championship game (March 6, 2004 to USP). Holy Family (25-5) is being led by sophomore forward Catherine Carr, the CACC player of the Year. She is averaging 15.1 points and 6.0 rebounds per game. Carr needs just 45 points to reach 1,000 in her career. Forward Melissa Brooks, an All-CACC third team selection, is contributing 10.4 points and 4.2 rebounds per contest. McCollum, an All-CACC second team pick, had a 10.2 scoring average and a team-high 8.0 rebounding average.

Cougars from Mt. Vernon Nazarene, 71-69, in the NCCAA East Regional
Final in Mt. Vernon, OH. Guard Kelsy McIntosh drilled a 3-pointer
at the buzzer to lift Nyack to the win. The #3 Lady Warriors face
#6 Mid-America Christian on Thursday in the first-round.
