PHILADELPHIA WOMEN'S BASKETBALL ANNOUNCES CLASS OF 2013

PHILADELPHIA, PA (May 7, 2009) - Philadelphia University women's basketball head coach and Athletics Director Tom Shirley announced the addition of Kristen Blye (Chester Springs, PA/ Downingtown East) and Megan Finn (Collegeville, PA/ Perkiomen Valley) to the CACC Champion Lady Rams basketball team. Blye and Finn will join the team as freshmen in the fall of 2009.
Blye, a forward, is a two-time All-State performer at Downingtown East. She earned 1st Team All-Area and All-League as a senior, as well as being named a Chester County All-Star and Downingtown East Team MVP. In her junior year she made the Philadelphia Inquirer's All-Southeast PA 2nd Team, 1st Team All-Area and All-League, as well as earning a West Chester ‘Future Stars' nod. She was named a 2nd Team All-Area and 1st Team All-Chest-Mont League player as a sophomore and also was a four-year varsity lacrosse student-athlete.
"Kristen played for a terrific program at Downingtown East, having lost less than 10 games in her four-year career. She will serve a versatile role at PhilaU as both a small forward and a power forward," said Shirley.
Finn, a point guard, will redshirt her first year at PhilaU. She was a four-year varsity starter at point guard at Perkiomen Valley- garnering Pioneer Athletic Conference (PAC) 1st Team honors, along with being named Conference MVP. She also was named Pottstown Mercury's ‘Girl's Basketball Player of the Year', 1st Team All-Area, Philadelphia Inquirer's All-Southeastern PA ‘Honorable Mention and PAC All-Academic as a senior. In her junior year she was named 1st Team All-Conference, 2nd Team All-Area and to the Southern Lehigh ‘All-Tournament Team'. As a sophomore the Collegeville native was named All-Conference ‘Honorable Mention', Perkiomen Valley Tournament ‘MVP' and to the Southern Lehigh All-Tournament Team. She was also a three-year varsity field hockey player, garnering PAC 2nd Team All-Conference as a junior.
"Megan will be our quarterback for the future, our goal will be to have her evolve into a scoring point guard like Nina Brascetta," said Shirley.
