NEW HAVEN, CT - The Holy Family University women's basketball team moved up to third in this week's NCAA Division II Women's Basketball East Region Poll. Bloomfield College remains in the eighth spot in the men's regional poll.
Holy Family has not lost since December 13 at Gannon, which is ranked third in the Atlantic Region this week. The Tigers have won 17 consecutive games and clinched the top overall seed for the CACC Tournament in March. The squad is 23-4 overall and 16-0 in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) play. The Holy Family defense continues to dominate, as the Tigers allow only 46.7 points per-game and opponents shoot just 32.5-percent from the field. Sophomore Catherine Carr paces the team with an average of 14.9 points per-game, while senior Melissa Brooks and junior Christine McCollum average 10.3 ppg and 10.1 ppg, respectively.
Bloomfield has secured the CACC North Division regular-season championship and sports a 13-1 league record to go with a 19-6 overall mark. If the Deacons win one of their final two regular season games, at home against Holy Family and at Nyack, they will clinch the top overall seed for the CACC Tournament. Senior guard Omari Knox continues to lead the CACC in scoring with an average of 20.4 ppg, while sophomore Gage Daye tosses in 18.5 ppg to rank third. Daye also leads the CACC with an average of 2.50 steals per-game and Knox makes the most three-pointers in the conference, converting 3.54 per-contest.
