Felician's Callie Negro Named CACC November S-A of the Month
NEW HAVEN, Conn. (January 25, 2024) -- Felician University women's cross country runner Callie Negro was recently named the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Student-Athlete of the Month for November as announced by Commissioner Dan Mara. Negro earned the honor for her athleticism, standout work in the classroom, and giving back to her local community.
On the race course, Negro helped Felician advance to the NCAA Division II East Region Championship Race where she was one of the Golden Falcons' competitors in the event in early November. She posted a pair of top-25 finishes during the 2023 season, including a 13th-place showing at the Queensborough Cross Country Invitational. During her career, she has been a contributing member on a pair of CACC Championship teams, helping to lead Felician to the 2022 women's cross country and 2023 women's outdoor track & field team titles.
Negro, a junior from Wood-Ridge, N.J., boasts an impressive cumulative grade point average of 3.97 in her major of early childhood education. She is a multiple time Dean's List honoree at Felician and was named to both the 2023 CACC Women's Cross Country and Women's Outdoor Track & Field All-Academic Teams.
In her local community, Negro recently took part in planning, coordinating, and working a breast cancer Walk on Oct. 28, to raise funds and awareness for the battle against the dreaded disease.
The CACC Student-Athlete of the Month Award is handed out each month from September through May, spanning the course of the academic year. The award recognizes athletic achievement, academic success and community involvement.
