Jefferson's Ana Eshraghi Named CACC S-A of the Month for September
NEW HAVEN, Conn. (October 12, 2023) -- Thomas Jefferson University women's cross country standout Ana Eshraghi on Thursday was named the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Student-Athlete of the Month for September 2023, as announced by Commissioner Dan Mara. Eshraghi earned the honor for accomplishing success on the race course during the month, while also achieving academic success and getting involved in community engagement throughout her career at Jefferson.
On the race course during the month, Eshraghi was twice named the CACC Runner of the Week and posted a trio of top-five finishes including a win in late September at the PSU Abington Invitational. She also finished third in the Philadelphia Metro Championship at Belmont Plateau and was fifth at the Osprey Open. Those accomplishments were the latest in a long line of career achievements for Eshraghi who came into the season already a two-time All-CACC performer in cross country and a member of Jefferson's 2021 team that claimed the CACC crown on the women's side.
In the classroom, the North Wales, Pa. native owns an impressive cumulative grade point average of 3.87 in her major of exercise science. The junior runner was placed on the 2022 CACC All-Academic Team in cross country, and has garnered other academic accolades including the CSC Academic All-District Team (2022) and twice being named a USTFCCCA All-Academic Individual (2021 & 2022).
In the community, Eshraghi has volunteered at numerous community race events including the Philadelphia Marathon, Schuylkill River Loop Run and the Belmont Plateau Hall of Fame Classic.
Eshraghi is the year's first winner of the CACC Student-Athlete of the Month Award. The honor is given out each month from September through May, spanning the course of the academic calendar and recognizing an athlete who achieves high levels of success in athletics, academics and community involvement.
