CACC MEN'S CROSS COUNTRY TITLE RETURNS TO FELICIAN

PHILADELPHIA, PA (November 7, 2010) – The Felician College men's cross country team claimed its sixth Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) championship in the last seven years Sunday afternoon at Belmont Plateau in Philadelphia. The Golden Falcons placed five runners in the top 11 to score a low 31 points. Philadelphia University finished second with 63 points. The top 15 finishers were named to the All-Conference team.
Sophomore Rob Albano, junior James Vander Wiele and sophomore Taylor Trumbetti led the way for Felician by finishing in third, fourth and fifth place, respectively. Albano clocked a time of 27:21.32, Vander Wiele crossed in 27:42.57 and Trumbetti ran the five mile course in 27:57.46. Also earning All-Conference honors for the Golden Falcons were senior Jay Rodgers (eighth place) and sophomore Tim Kicha (11th place).
The overall race winner was sophomore Bill Steele of Wilmington University, who passed Holy Family University's Fred Tuwei just before the finish line with a furious finishing kick. Steele traversed the course in 26:54.29 and Tuwei finished in 26:56.93.
Steele was named the 2010 CACC Runner of the Year by virtue of finishing first. Teammate Austin Knight claimed Rookie of the Year accolades by being the first rookie finisher, crossing in ninth place with a time of 28:52.11. Philadelphia's Dave Thomas was voted Coach of the Year by his peers and the University of the Sciences was given the annual Team Sportsmanship Award.
After Felician and Philadelphia, the top five was rounded out by Wilmington (110), USciences (111) and Nyack College (127).
