2021 CACC WTEN Year-End Awards
NEW HAVEN, Conn. (October 19, 2021) -- Wilmington University standout Neus Ramos Moreno on Tuesday was named the 2021 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Women's Tennis Player of the Year, as announced by Commissioner Dan Mara. Moreno, who was also named to the All-CACC First Team, was voted as the league's top player by the conference's seven head coaches in the sport.
In addition to Moreno, University of the Sciences' Charlotte Kordonowy was named the CACC Rookie of the Year, while WilmU's Troy Donato was named the CACC Coach of the Year.
Moreno is 5-1 overall this season in singles play, including a perfect 3-0 mark at the No. 1 position. She has also teamed up with several teammates in doubles action this fall to post a perfect 7-0 mark.
Kordonowy is 5-3 overall this season, and is 3-0 at the No. 2 spot in the Devils' lineup. She is also 4-2 in doubles action at the No. 1 spot for USciences. Kordonowy joined Moreno on the All-CACC First Team.
Donato was named the CACC Coach of the Year after guiding WilmU to a perfect 6-0 record in league play, which clinched the regular season championship and the No. 1 seed in this week's CACC Women's Tennis Championship.
The other major award handed out on Tuesday was the CACC Team Sportsmanship Award, which went to Thomas Jefferson University for demonstrating outstanding character during competition in 2021.
The all-conference honorees and major award winners will be recognized at Thursday night's CACC Women's Tennis Championship banquet in Wilmington, Del.
