GARDEN CITY, N.Y. – An early goal by Isabella Muro in the 6th minute alongside a defense that only allowed five total Ram shots was the deciding factor as the No. 3 seed Thomas Jefferson University women's soccer team (13-4-3) would fall in the first round of the NCAA Tournament to No. 6 seed Molloy University (12-4-5) 1-0 in Friday morning action.
WHAT HAPPENED
Molloy would begin the game early on as Lauren Marinello would have the ball near the center of the field, passing it to her left as Isabella Muro drove to the left side and took her shot that went into the right of the net, putting the Lions up 1-0 over the Rams at the 6th minute. The rest of the game would be held on the defensive side as Jefferson would only allow three shots in the first half. Molloy would only give the Rams one shot attempt during that period.
The second half saw more opportunities for Jefferson, as they would have four shots in the second half while the Lions only had two attempts. The last three shots for Jefferson would come down in the last 10 minutes. Mia Ferrara would have the last opportunity for the Rams as they received a free kick right outside the box with just under two minutes to play, but her shot would just be too high.
