2023 CACC MEN'S TENNIS CHAMPIONSHIP CENTRAL | BOXSCORE
PHILADELPHIA, Pa. (April 18, 2023) -- With just one singles match remaining, and down 1-0 after the first set, Noah Cutting rallied to capture the second and third sets to win at No. 1 singles and clinch No. 2 Chestnut Hill College's come-from-behind 4-3 victory over third-seeded Post University in the first round of the 2023 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Men's Tennis Championship on Tuesday in Philadelphia.
The Griffins advanced to Friday's CACC Championship Final, as they will take on top-seeded Thomas Jefferson University on the CHC campus. The match will begin at 12 p.m., and will feature a rematch of last year's final that was claimed by the Rams.
Post went up 1-0 after capturing 2-of-3 doubles matches at the No. 2 and 3 spots. The No. 2 team of Josh Cronje and Gustavo Kerber picked up a 6-4 triumph to give the Eagles the doubles point. The No. 3 team also claimed a win and featured Niklas Langenfeld and James Vincent.
Post then went up 2-0 in the match as Anton Andersson won at No. 3 singles via a 6-4, 6-3 triumph over Antonio Franquis.
Tiago Lima finally got CHC on the board with a victory (6-2, 6-2) at the No. 4 spot, and Tom Pitchley evened the score at 2-2 with a win at No. 2 singles (6-4, 5-7, 6-3).
Langenfeld put Post back in front at 3-2 with a straight-sets win at No. 6 by scores of 7-5 and 7-6. However, that was the final point Post would muster as CHC claimed wins at No. 5 and Cutting at No. 1.
Joao Sousa won at the No. 5 spot by scores of 6-7, 6-2, 6-2, and Cutting posted a 6-7, 7-6, 6-1 triumph.
