Bloomfield eliminates Dominican; Dabney scores 1,000th point

BLOOMFIELD -- The Bloomfield College men's basketball team defeated Dominican College, 79-68, in the quarter-final round of the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Tournament in Bloomfield.

Top-seed Bloomfield (21-7) will play the winner of the Felician College/Nyack College quarter-final contest on Friday at 8 p.m. on the campus of tournament host Caldwell College. The championship game will be played Saturday at 8 p.m.

Bloomfield was led by sophomore point guard Andre Dabney (Plainfield, NJ) who scored 24 points, including his 1,000th point on the college level. He also collected six assists. Senior Javier Salson (Madrid, Spain) scored 20 and grabbed 10 rebounds. Junior Daniel Terrell (Somerdale, NJ) scored 11.

Sophomore Rob Lawrence scored 9 and grabbed 9 rebounds.

Dominican's Matt Augustin (Bronx, NY) scored 13, grabbed 9 rebounds and collected 5 assists. Junior Paul Tuomey (Queens, NY) and sophomore Ryan Cahak (Fayetteville, NY) each scored 10.

Dominican finishes the season with a record of 12-18.
