VOLLEYBALL TURNS BACK CALDWELL UNIVERSITY
Orangeburg, N.Y. (10/21/21) The Dominican College women's volleyball team avenged a loss earlier in the season by defeating the visiting Cougars of Caldwell University, 3-1, tonight in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) match played on Coach Baxter Court in the Hennessy Center.
Orangeburg, N.Y. (10/21/21) The Dominican College women's volleyball team avenged a loss earlier in the season by defeating the visiting Cougars of Caldwell University, 3-1, tonight in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) match played on Coach Baxter Court in the Hennessy Center.
With the win, Dominican improves to 4-15 overall and 2-8 in conference play.
The Chargers won the first two sets by scores of 25-23 and 25-12 to take the 2-0 match lead. Caldwell took the third set, 26-24, but the Chargers closed out the match with a 25-16 fourth set win and 3-1 match victory.
As a team Dominican recorded double digits in kills in all four sets, while posting an over .300 attack percentage in the second and fourth set.
Freshman Kaitlyn Carr (Rogers, Ark.) had a night best 17 kills and completed the double-double with 15 digs.
Emmalyn LaPier (Endicott, N.Y.) finished the night with 12 kills and 10 digs, while rookie Aaliyah Ellis (League City, Texas) contributed 11 kills and a match best .421 attack percentage.
Setter Lily Ainsworth (Colorado Springs, Colo.) tallied a night best 47 assists, while libero Linda Armao Peng (Houston, Texas) recorded 19 digs in the win.
The Chargers host Goldey-Beacom College this coming Saturday in a CACC contest. Match time is slated for 12pm on Coach Baxter Court.
