Dominican improves to 8-1 overall and 3-1 in conference play with the win. The victory ends a five-year losing streak for DC in the Bloomfield Gym.
The Chargers led 19-11 with 7:23 to play in the first half and closed out the half on a 20-12 run to increase the lead to 39-23.
DC would lead by as many as 41 points in second half en route to the victory. They out rebounded the Bears, 50-32 and used 49 points from the bench in the win. The Charger offense shot 53.8% (35-65) from the floor and went 16-19 (84.2) from the free throw line.
Jason Copman (Cumberland, Md.) recorded the game's only double-double of 15 points (7-9 from the floor) and 12 rebounds.
Senior Jonathan Garcia (Springfield, Mass.) also netted 15 points and dished out seven assists in the win.
Guard Wahaad Johnson (Brooklyn, N.Y.) delivered 13 points (3-4 from the three-point arc), while Tavon Ginyard (Brentwood, N.Y.) scored 11 points and six boards. Freshman Joshua Serrano (Amityville, N.Y.) had a career high 11 points and Jalen Burgess (Springfield Gardens, N.Y.) tallied 10 points, four rebounds and four assists.
The Chargers return to action on December 19th when they travel to Lynn University.
