WILDCATS PICK UP CACC WIN OVER DOMINICAN
Newark, Del. (10/26/19) The Wilmington University women's volleyball team defeated the visiting Chargers of Dominican College, 3-0 (25-14, 25-15, 27-25), this afternoon in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) match played at the WU Athletics Complex.
Newark, Del. (10/26/19) The Wilmington University women's volleyball team defeated the visiting Chargers of Dominican College, 3-0 (25-14, 25-15, 27-25), this afternoon in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) match played at the WU Athletics Complex.
Down 2-0, Dominican (0-19 0-13 CACC) opened up the third set with the first five points and took a 6-1 lead on a kill from senior Mykalee Chambers (Bronx, N.Y.). DC would extend their lead to as many as six points as Gabrielle Napoleon (Springfield, Pa.) recorded a kill for the 16-10 advantage.
WU would rally with five consecutive points and would later tie the set at 19-19. A three-point 'Cat spurt would put them at match point, 24-21, but Dominican charged back with four unanswered points which included a solo block, service ace and kill from Napoleon to turn the tide and give DC the 25-24 lead. Wilmington closed out the match with the final three points for the 27-25 win and 3-0 match victory.
Senior Malia Robinson (Jersey City, N.J.) led Dominican with five kills, while freshman Zoe Clifford (Suffern, N.Y.) added four kills and two service aces.
Krystal Paulino (Bronx, N.Y.) had a team high 10 assists, while libero Alicia Dennis (Kemp, Texas) posted a team high 15 digs.
Senior Deanna Knopf (Hauppauge, N.Y.) delivered 10 digs and Emmalyn LaPier (Endicott, N.Y.) had seven digs.
The Chargers will travel to Caldwell University this coming Wednesday night.
