With the win, Dominican improves to 10-10 overall and 8-3 in conference play.
The score was tied at 17-all after the first ten minutes of action but the Golden Falcons built up a 26-20 advantage with 7:31 left in the second quarter. Following a time out, the Lady Chargers went on a 15-0 tear to jump in front, 35-26 with five and a half minutes before the break. DC closed out the half with back-to-back treys from Naabea-Janaan Assibey-Bonsu (Central Islip, N.Y.) and senior Ashley Merritt (Poughkeepsie, N.Y.) to increase the lead to 44-34 at the intermission.
Dominican would outscore their opponents, 15-14 in the third frame to make the score, 59-48, and would go on a 22-8 run in the final ten minutes for the final 81-56 victory.
Merritt, Taylor Tomlinson (Middletown, N.Y.) and Korina Guerra (White Plains, N.Y.) all scored 17 points each to lead the Lady Chargers in the victory. Merritt added seven assists, while Tomlinson grabbed seven rebounds. Guerra tallied four rebounds, four assists and three steals.
Junior Khay'la Latimer (Teaneck, N.J.) had a team best eight rebounds.
For the Golden Falcons, Halyee Ramirez led the team with 18 points, while Briana Lee had the game's only double-double with 17 points and 14 rebounds in the loss.
The Lady Chargers return home this coming Saturday as they host Holy Family University on Coach Baxter Court.
