WOMEN'S BASKETBALL FALLS TO STAC

Sparkill, N.Y. (11/9/19) The Dominican College women's basketball team fell to St Thomas Aquinas College by a score of 85-65. The Lady Chargers finished the 2019 STAC Conference Challenge and opening weekend of the 2019-2020 season 1-1 overall.
After the first quarter, STAC held a 22-16 lead over DC. The Spartans used a 17-0 run in the second quarter and entered halftime with a 49-30 lead at the break. The Spartans continued their strong play in the second half and closed out the 85-65 win over the Lady Chargers.
Sarah Scerbak and Zaria Thomas combined for 41 total points to help lead STAC to victory.
Scerbak finished the game with 21 points and added three rebounds, three assists, and two steals. Thomas added 20 points, three steals, and two assists.
Melissa Sadler finished the game with 12 points and recorded three steals and two rebounds.
For the Lady Chargers, Korina Guerra (White Plains, N.Y.) and Samantha McClutchy (Washington Township, N.J.) each scored a team-high 11 points. Guerra added four rebounds and one assist while McClutchy pulled down a team-high six rebounds and also added one assist.
Jasmine Gee (Englewood, N.J.) added 10 points while Khay'la Latimer (Teaneck, N.J.) scored seven points and recorded four rebounds.
The Lady Chargers will be back in action on Wednesday, November 13th for their home opener when they host Adelphi University. The game is scheduled to tip-off at 6:30 PM.
