Orangeburg, N.Y. (1/26/22) The Dominican College men's basketball team completed the series sweep of the Caldwell University Cougars with a 74-73 victory tonight in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) action on Coach Baxter Court in the Hennessy Center.

Following the win Dominican improves to 12-3 overall and 5-2 in conference play, while the Cougars dip to 6-10 overall and 2-7 in the CACC.
The game was tied at 33-all at the end of the first half, but the Cougars opened the second frame with an 11-0 run to go ahead, 44-33, with 17:31 to play. The Chargers would rally and later tie the score at 55-all with just under seven minutes left on a trey from Jalen Burgess (Springfield Gardens, N.Y.).
A pair of Cougar free throws put them back in front, 72-69, with 37 ticks on the clock, but DC charged right back to once again tie the game on a three-point basket by Wahaad Johnson (Brooklyn, N.Y.). A Caldwell free throw gave them the 73-72 edge, but Daniel Grant (Middletown, N.Y.) iced two free throws to lift DC to the 74-73 win.
Guard Johnson led three players in double figures for the Chargers with 17 points (7-14 from the floor).
Burgess finished with 16 points and nine rebounds, while Grant tallied 14 points, five assists and five steals.
The Cougars were led by Mark Heber with a game high 21 points, while Derek Bueno pulled down a game best 14 rebounds.
Dominican is scheduled to return to action on Saturday afternoon when they host Goldey-Beacom College.
