Philadelphia, Pa.-It was a tough Saturday afternoon in the City of Brotherly Love for the University of Bridgeport women's lacrosse team as the Purple Knights trailed 7-4 after the first quarter and never could rebound, as the host Thomas Jefferson University Rams posted a 25-5 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference win.
UB is now 5-6 overall and 4-3 in conference play. Jefferson ups its season record to 6-7, and the Rams are 5-2 in the CACC
Graduate student Andrea Basilicato (Guilford, Conn.) had two goals and an assist for UB on Saturday, and the Purple Knights also got single goals from Danielle Kreitler (Grad., Shelton, Conn.) and freshmen Tara Dimaio (Shirley, N.Y.) and Evelyn Edwards (Puyallup, Wash.).
Sophomore Jacklyn Mellia (Nanuet, N.Y.) made 10 saves in goal for UB on the afternoon.
Up next, the Bridgeport women's lacrosse team plays its final regular season home game of the 2023 season next Saturday when the Purple Knights host Holy Family University at 12 noon for Senior Day.
