VOLLEYBALL EDGED BY NYACK COLLEGE AS COMEBACK FALLS SHORT

The Chargers' comeback fell short after DC fell behind in the match 2-0. The Chargers won the next two sets to force a fifth and final set. The Warriors secured the win after taking the fifth set by a score of 15-10.
The Chargers fall to 3-11 (1-5 CACC) and the Warriors improve to 1-11 (1-5 CACC).
Emmalyn LaPier (Endicott, N.Y.) led the Chargers in points with 17 and kills with 16. LaPier also added nine digs. Kaitlyn Carr (Rogers, Ark.) added 13.5 points, 11 kills, and nine digs. Aaliyah Ellis (League City, Texas) scored 13 points and recorded 12 kills.
Lindley McCutcheon (Myrtle Beach, S.C.) finished with 12.5 points, 10 kills, and 11 digs. Linda Armao Peng (Houston, Texas) led the team in digs with 23. Lily Ainsworth (Colorado Springs, Colo.) added a team-high 46 assists.
Both teams played an even first set, but the Warriors edged the Chargers 26-24 for the 1-0 lead. The Warriors continued their strong play in the second set by jumping out to a quick 5-0 lead to open the set and never looked back to take a 2-0 match lead.
In the third set, the Chargers held an early 7-6 lead. DC outscored the Warriors 18-9 from that point to get on the board.
In the fourth set, the Chargers trailed 15-12 before going on a 13-3 run on their way to winning their second consecutive set and forcing a fifth and final set.
Both teams went back and forth in the fifth set and the Warriors held an 11-10 lead. Nyack scored the final four points to secure the win.
Ashlyn Couch led the Warriors with 13 points and added 10 kills and 12 digs. Jada Hamilton finished with 11.5 points and 11 kills. Cassady Hymes scored 10 points and finished with nine kills.
The Chargers will look to bounce back when they travel to Holy Family University for a CACC match on Saturday, October 9th at 11:00 AM.
