Bridgeport Sweeps UB Women's Basketball Classic With 86-76 Triumph Over Post On Sunday
Purple Knights Now 2-0 On The Season
Bridgeport, Conn. – The University of Bridgeport women's basketball team finished off the 2013 UB women's basketball classic with their second win in as many days, as the Purple Knights defeated the visiting Post Eagles, 86-76.
The Purple Knights' Aziza Patterson (Sr., Teaneck, N.J.) led the team in scoring for the second straight day with 17 points, plus she added seven assists. She was joined in double figures by three teammates, freshman Louise Ovner (Vallentuna, Sweden) scored 14 points, while her twin sister Evelyn Ovner recorded a double-double with 11 points and a team-high 13 rebounds, plus sophomore center Shannon Holt (Holden, Mass.) added 13 points.
Post's Hailey Griffin scored a game-high 22 points in the loss for the Eagles.
The Purple Knights will hit the road for their next two games, first playing St. Michael's College of Vermont on Thursday, November 14, and then the team will play at Franklin Pierce on Sunday, November 17. Their next home action will take place on Saturday, November 23 at 1 p.m. versus Caldwell College, and that game will be Military Appreciation Day.
