Caldwell, N.J. (10/13/21) The Dominican College men's soccer team defeated the Cougars of Caldwell University by a score of 3-1.
With the win, the Chargers improve to 5-4-1 (3-1-1 CACC). The Cougars fall to 3-7 (1-5 CACC) after the loss.
Lucas Silva Pereria (Divinopolis-MG, Brazil) started in goal for the Chargers and made three saves. Dylan Valencia made five saves in net for the Cougars.
The Chargers took 21 total shots in the game and eight were recorded on goal.
Ewan Gray (Middlesbrough, England) led the team in shots with six and recorded four on goal. Gray scored the team's first goal at 25:05 of the first half.
The Chargers extended their lead to 2-0 when Guilherme Pirana (Jundiai, Brazil) scored an unassisted goal at 23:06.
The Chargers maintained the 2-0 lead for the rest of the first half. DC extended their lead to 3-0 when Eric Affi (St. Michael, Minn.) scored at the 70:48 mark. Ewan Gray added an assist on Affi's goal off of a free kick that set up the goal.
The Cougars ended the shutout at the 81:05 mark when Andre Vieira scored on a penalty kick to put CU on the board.
The Chargers held onto the 3-1 lead and secured the conference win.
DC will be back in action when they return home to host Goldey-Beacom College on Friday, October 15th at 2:00 PM.
