PAULINO'S BIG GAME TWO HELPS DC EARN SPLIT WITH GRIFFINS

The Chargers now hold a record of 8-18 (5-3 CACC) and the Griffins now stand at 13-13 (5-3 CACC).
Dominican dropped game one 2-1 in eight innings but bounced back with 15 runs in game two to earn a split.
Game One: The Chargers were edged by the Griffins in eight innings in the opening game of the double header.
Game one was a pitcher's duel between DC's Brendan Turton (Westbury, N.Y.) and CHC's Andrew Dietz.
Turton pitched six shutout innings and recorded seven strikeouts. Dietz recorded the win by pitching eight innings and earned five strikeouts.
Ethan Sarmiento (Warwick, N.Y.), Alexander Reyes (Bronx, N.Y.), and Bryant Bassett (Bronx, N.Y.) each recorded one hit for the Chargers.
The game was scoreless through seven innings. The Chargers took the lead by scoring the first run of the game in the top of the eighth inning.
Bassett singled with two outs and then stole second base and came around to score after consecutive errors by the Griffin defense.
After a lead off single, Sam Barletta reached on an error after a bunt attempt which allowed the tying run to score and Barletta to advance to third.
Barletta scored the winning run after a wild pitch to end the game.
Game Two: The Chargers bounced back in game two and earned a split with the Griffins. The Chargers pounded 14 hits in the win and scored 15 runs as they downed the Griffins 15-6.
The Chargers used a 10-run rally in the fifth inning highlighted by Richard Paulino's (San Pedro de Macoris, Dominican Republic) five RBI's in the inning. Paulino homered early in the inning to give the Chargers the lead and then ripped a bases clearing single later in the inning driving in three more runs.
Paulino finished the game with seven RBIs and two home runs with his first homer coming in the third inning. Shane Hewlette (Deer Park, N.Y.) added two doubles and two RBIs. Reyes also finished with two hits and two RBIs.
Max Chidsey (Naples, Fla.), Tyler Patterson (East Meadow, N.Y.), and Bassett all drove in one RBI and each scored two runs.
Justin Diaz (Coral Springs, Fla.) earned the win to improve to 2-1 on the season. Oscarli Cruz (Haverstraw, N.Y.) entered the game in relief and pitched four strong innings.
The Chargers will be back in action on Sunday, April 3rd when they host Nyack College for a CACC double header. Game one is scheduled for 12:00 PM and game two will follow at 3:00 PM.
