PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - - The Wilmington University women's basketball team closed to within two points in the second half, but Holy Family held on to defeat the Wildcats, 64-54, in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference action at the Campus Center on Thursday night.

In a game that was originally scheduled to be played Wednesday night, the Wildcats (5-12, 2-8 CACC) used a 12-3 run to turn an 11 point deficit into a two point game with 10:33 remaining in regulation. The Tigers (11-5, 9-0 CACC) then used a 10-2 run of its own to turn the small advantage back into a double digit lead in the middle of the second half.

Wilmington was again led by sophomore Tenicia Spence who poured in a game high 28 points, shooting 10-of-21 from the floor while adding 5-of-6 from the charity stripe. She hit three three-pointers in the game while also finishing with two steals. Freshmen Jocelyn Rodriguez and Jasmine Lee led Wilmington with eight rebounds each.

The Tigers were led by Carolyne Heston's double-double, scoring a team high 13 points while also pulling in a game high 16 rebounds. Holy Family's Jill Conroy also finished in double figures, adding 11 points on 6-og-10 shooting from the foul line in the win.

The Wildcats held the Tigers to 28.4 percent shooting on the night, converting only one three-pointer in 16 attempts. The Tigers made up for the lack in shooting by hitting 25-of-43 from the foul line in the contest.

In comparison, the Wildcats shot 31.7 percent from the floor, but couldn't convert any better from beyond the three-point arc. Spence hit three three-pointers while Taylor Carter added another, leading the team to 4-of-20 from deep. Wilmington only made it to the line on 18 occasions, hitting 12 free-throws.

Due to the weather, the Wildcats have a short turnaround for their next contest on Saturday. The team remains on the road for one more contest when they travel to CACC North Division foe Nyack for a 1 p.m. tip.
