Waterbury, Conn. (9/21/21) The Dominican College men's soccer dropped their conference opener to the Eagles of Post University by a score of 3-1.
The Chargers fall to 2-3 (0-1 CACC) on the season and the Eagles improve to 1-3-1 (1-0 CACC) after the win.
Lucas Silva Pereria (Divinopolis-MG, Brazil) recorded four saves for DC. Soren Jensen recorded seven saves for the Eagles and earned his first win of the season.
The Eagles scored the first three goals of the game, including two in the first half. Sergio Sanchez scored the first goal of the game at 15:49. Alvaro Sanchez extended the lead to 2-0 at 29:47.
William Nordqvist and Sergio Diaz each added one assist in the first half.
The Eagles extended their lead to 3-0 when Davide Mazza scored at the 57:50 mark.
Ewan Gray (Middlesbrough, England) ended the shutout and put the Chargers on the board late in the second half. Fredy Rosales-Santos (Norwalk, Conn.) recorded the assist on the goal.
The Chargers took 13 shots in the game and recorded eight shots on goal. Antonio Zhu Sanchez (Alfafar Valencia, Spain) and Guilherme Pirana (Jundiai, Brazil) each recorded a team-leading three shots.
The Eagles took 12 total shots and recorded seven shots on goal. Sergio Sanchez took a team-high three shots.
The Chargers will look to bounce back this Saturday, September 25th when they travel to Georgian Court University for a conference game with the Lions. The game is scheduled to start at 1:30 PM.
