#5 SHARKS DEFEAT #23 CHARGERS

Fort Lauderdale, Fla. (12/21/19) The #23 Dominican College men's basketball team traveled to Fort Lauderdale, Fla. to visit #5 Nova Southeastern University. The Chargers, 9-2, fell to their non-conference opponent NSU, 8-1, by a score of 108-87.
The Sharks opened up the game with a big first half by outscoring DC 57-33. The Sharks closed out the strong opening half with a 25-5 run.
The Sharks offense shot 60.5% from the field in the first half and 60.0% from three-point range. Eddie Puisis led the Sharks in the first half with 13 points.
Tavon Ginyard (Brentwood, N.Y.) and Daraja Rodwell (Balwin, N.Y.) each scored nine points to lead the Chargers in the first half.
In the second half, the Sharks extended to their largest lead of the game which was 26 over the Chargers. The Sharks continued their strong play through the second half and closed out the victory over the Chargers.
Eddie Puisis finished the game with a team-high 22 points for the Sharks. Connor Zinaich scored 17 points while Mark Matthews scored 18 points. Jake Maranville contributed 11 points.
The Chargers had four players finish the game in double figures. Daraja Rodwell led the team with 21 points and also added five rebounds, three assists, and one steal. Tavon Ginyard scored 20 points and added three steals.
Tedrick Wilcox (Pawtucket, R.I.) contributed 16 points while Jonathan Garcia (Springfield, Mass.) added 14 points, five rebounds, four assists, and three steals.
The Chargers will look to bounce back when they travel to the University of Bridgeport on Monday, December 30th. The game is scheduled to tip-off at 3:00 PM.
