Mount Olive, N.C. (3/15/22) The Dominican College baseball team concluded their trip to North Carolina with a non-conference double-header loss to the University of Mount Olive, 4-3 and 6-0, this afternoon in games played at Scarborough Field.

Mount Olive, N.C. (3/15/22) The Dominican College baseball team concluded their trip to North Carolina with a non-conference double-header loss to the University of Mount Olive, 4-3 and 6-0, this afternoon in games played at Scarborough Field.
Dominican now stands at 2-12 on the season, while Mount Olive improves to 16-6.
Game One: Dominican got on the scoreboard in the top of the second as Antonio Pena (Brooklyn, N.Y.) produced and RBI groundout for the early 1-0 advantage. UMO tied the score in the third, but DC added two more runs in the sixth as Bobby Garbuio (Chappaqua, N.Y.) reached on a fielder's choice which brought home a run and he later scored on a wild pitch to regain a 3-1 lead. A three-run bottom of the seventh inning by the Trojans lifted them to the 4-3 win.
Catcher Benjamin Avila (Walden, N.Y.) picked up two hits in the loss.
Reliever Noel Vasquez (Washington Heights, N.Y.) suffered the loss (0-1) in four innings of relief.
Game Two: The Trojans scored two runs in the bottom of the first and never looked back en route to the 6-0 win.
Richard Paulino (San Pedro de Macoris, Dominican Republic) led Dominican with two hits in the loss.
Starter Maverick Medina (Pembroke Pines, Fla.) took the loss (0-2), allowing five runs (four earned) on seven hits.
The Chargers return to action on Saturday when they travel to Molloy College in a non-conference double-header.
