BASEBALL RALLIES TO DEFEAT BEARS
Pomona, N.Y. (4/19/22) The Dominican College baseball team rallied from a 6-4 deficit to defeat the visiting Bears of Bloomfield College, 9-8, this afternoon in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) game played at Clover Stadium.

With the win Dominican improves to 12-25 overall and 9-9 in the CACC.
Bloomfield led 4-0 after two and a half innings of play when the Chargers got on the scoreboard with an RBI ground out and a run-scoring single off the bat of Richard Paulino (San Pedro de Macoris, Dominican Republic) to cut the lead to 4-2.
The Bears added two more runs to rebuild a 6-2 advantage, but DC scored two runs in the bottom of the sixth as Shane Hewlette (Deer Park, N.Y.) delivered a run-scoring single and Max Chidsey (Naples, Fla.) followed with a sacrifice fly ball hit to left field to bring home a run amd make the score 6-4.
Dominican took the lead in the seventh as they scored four runs on four hits. Tyler Richman (Sunrise, Fla.) got things going with an RBI double and later scored on a wild pitch. With two outs, third basemen Ethan Sarmiento (Warwick, N.Y.) recorded an RBI single and Hewlette brought him home with an RBI triple to gain the 8-6 edge.
BC scored two runs in the top of the ninth to tie the game at 8-8. Paulino got a one out triple and back-to-back intentional walks to Garbuio and Sarmiento loaded the bases. Hewlette recorded the game-winning single which brought home pinch runner Kenee Torres (Yonkers, N.Y.) and lift DC to the 9-8 victory.
Hewlette went 4-4 in the game with three RBI, while Paulino went 4-5 with two runs scored.
Reliever Robert Liriano (Haverstraw, N.Y.) got the win (3-2) in three and 2/3 innings of work, allowing two runs on four hits and six strikeouts.
