BACK-TO-BACK HOME RUNS LIFT CHARGERS OVER LIONS
Uniondale, N.Y. (3/20/22) The Dominican College baseball team rallied from a 9-5 deficit to defeat the Molloy College Lions, 10-9, this afternoon in a non-conference game played at Mitchel Field.

With the win, Dominican improves to 3-14 on the season.
DC got the ball rolling with a run in the top of the second on the RBI infield single from Darian Almonte (Orangeburg, N.Y.) for the early 1-0 advantage. Molloy countered in the bottom half of the second inning with three runs on two hits to go ahead 3-1.
MC added two more runs in the fourth for a 5-1 lead, but Dominican got two runs back in the sixth as designated hitter Bobby Garbuio (Chappaqua, N.Y.) hit an RBI triple to left center field and catcher Benjamin Avila (Walden, N.Y.) followed with an RBI groundout to make the score 5-3.
Dominican tied the game, 5-5 in their half of the seventh inning as Bryant Bassett (Bronx, N.Y.) came home to score on a Lion fielding error and first basemen Tyler Patterson (East Meadow, N.Y.) followed with a run-scoring single to centerfield.
The Lions answered in the bottom of the seventh, scoring four runs on four hits and one error to rebuild a 9-5 lead. The Chargers got two runs back in the top of the eighth on the one out two-run home run over the centerfield fence by Max Chidsey (Naples, Fla.).
With two outs in the top of the ninth third baseman Richard Paulino (San Pedro de Macoris, Dominican Republic) delivered a two-run blast over the center field fence and Garbuio followed with the game-winning solo home run to left field for the 10-9 victory.
Robert Liriano (Haverstraw, N.Y.) picked up the win in three innings of relief, allowing one run on two hits and two strikeouts.
Garbuio and Paulino both collected three hits and two RBI in the win.
The Chargers are scheduled to return to action on Wednesday when they travel to Mercy College.
