With the win, Dominican improves to 7-17 overall and 4-2 in conference play.
A three-run homer by the Cougars gave them the early 3-0 lead in the top of the first, but DC got two runs back in the bottom half of the evening on a two-run single down the left field line off the bat of designated hitter Bobby Garbuio (Chappaqua, N.Y.).
DC took the lead in the bottom of the second as freshman rightfielder Alexander Reyes (Bronx, N.Y.) blasted a two run home run for the 4-3 advantage.
Bryant Bassett (Bronx, N.Y.) added to the lead in the third inning as he brought home three runs on a triple to left center field to extend the lead to 7-3. Caldwell got a run back in the fifth, but the Chargers countered with two runs in their half of the inning on RBI singles by Bassett and Max Chidey (Naples, Fla.) to make the score 9-4.
Dominican scored nine runs on seven hits and two errors in the bottom of the sixth to make the score 18-4. The Cougars added two rins in their final at-bat for the 18-6 final.
Left fielder Tyler Patterson (East Meadow, N.Y.), Arthur Quinones (Miami, Fla.) and Bassett collected three hits a-piece in the win, with Bassett adding a career high five RBI and Quinones contributing three RBI.
Chidsey finished with two hits and three RBI, while Garbuio, Reyes, Benjamin Avila (Walden, N.Y.) and Ethan Sarmiento (Warwick, N.Y.) all had two hits.
Starter Anthony Leak (Pelham, N.Y.) picked up the win, allowing four runs on six hits and eight strikeouts to improve to 2-3 on the season in six innings of work.
