Dominican (12-26) recorded 13 hits in the contest, while the Bridgeport (15-21) offense tallied 20 hits in the win.
Designated hitter Richard Paulino (San Pedro de Macoris, Dominican Republic) and Ethan Sarmiento (Warwick, N.Y.) each had three hits in the loss.
Benjamin Avila (Walden, N.Y.) and Arthur Quinones (Miami, Fla.) both had three RBI and two hits.
Dominican trailed 5-3 after four and a half innings when the Chargers scored five runs in the bottom of the fifth on three hits. Paulino singled home two runs and Sarmiento followed with a run-scoring double. With two outs, Avila brought in two runs on a single to pull ahead 8-5.
The top of the sixth inning saw the Knights tie the game with three runs, but DC countered in their half of the inning by scoring another five runs. Three consecutive walks to Sarmiento, Shane Hewlette (Deer Park, N.Y.) and Avila scored runs and a single by Quinones brought a fourth run home. Another walk to Antonio Pena (Brooklyn, N.Y.) rebuilt a 13-8 advantage.
Bridgeport scored four runs in the top of the seventh and added four more in the top of the ninth to regain the lead and eventual 16-14 win.
The Chargers are back in action on Sunday afternoon when they travel to Bloomfield College in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) action.
