DOMINICAN TAKES ONE FROM COUGARS
Caldwell, N.J. (3/27/22) The Dominican College baseball team split a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) double-header with host, Caldwell University, this afternoon in games played at Kiwanis Oval. Dominican took the first game, 10-6, while the Cougars won the second game, 4-2.

Caldwell, N.J. (3/27/22) The Dominican College baseball team split a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) double-header with host, Caldwell University, this afternoon in games played at Kiwanis Oval. Dominican took the first game, 10-6, while the Cougars won the second game, 4-2.
With the split the Chargers now stand at 5-17 overall and 2-2 in the CACC.
Game One: Dominican trailed 2-0 after two innngs of play, but got a run back in the top of the third as Max Chidsey (Naples, Fla.) led off the inning with a solo home run over the left field fence.
The Chargers went ahead in the top of the sixth with three runs as Chidsey doubled home a run and Tyler Patterson (East Meadow, N.Y.) followed with a run-scoring double to left field. Second basemen Stefano Libio (Tamarac, Fla.) stole home with two outs to put DC ahead 4-2.
Caldwell got back two runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to tie the game, 4-4, but DC countered with a run in the top of the seventh on the leadoff solo home run over the left field fence off the bat of Richard Paulino (San Pedro de Macoris, Dominican Republic) to regain the 5-4 edge.
DC added three runs in the eighth as Paulino produced an RBI double and designated hitter Benjamin Avila (Walden, N.Y.) later delievered a run-scoring double to right field, which also allowed Paulino to score to increase the lead to 8-4.
Two more runs in the ninth on a bases loaded walk and a sacrific fly off the bat of Bobby Garbuio (Chappaqua, N.Y.) extended the lead to 10-4. Caldwell scored two runs in the bottom of the ninth for the final 10-6 score.
Centerfielder Chidsey went 3-4 with three runs scored and two RBI, while Paulino went 2-3 in the game with three RBI and two runs scored.
Alexander Reyes (Bronx, N.Y.) had two hits in the win.
Noel Vasquez (Washington Heights, N.Y.) picked up the win (1-1), allowing two runs on two hits.
Reliever Andy Alcantara (Brooklyn, N.Y.) earned his first save of the season after coming in for the final out of the season.
Game Two: The Cougars held a 3-0 lead through five innings of play, but Dominican got on the board in the top of the sixth as Ethan Sarmiento (Warwick, N.Y.) had an RBI groundout and designated hitter Arthur Quinones (Miami, Fla.) followed with an RBI single to left field to make the score 3-2.
Caldwell added a run in their half of the sixth to earn the split and bring home the 4-2 win.
Chidsey had two hits in the game.
Starter Maverick Medina (Pembroke Pines, Fla.) took the loss (0-3) in four innings of work.
Dominican returns to action on Tuesday afternoon when they travel to the University of Bridgeport.
