Wilmington Men’s Soccer Pushes Win Streak to Five with 1-0 Victory at Concordia

BRONXVILLE, N.Y. - - The Wilmington University men's soccer team won a Central Athletic Collegiate Conference contest at Concordia College, 1-0, on a lone goal off the foot of Abdul Mansaray on Saturday afternoon.

Mansaray gave the Wildcats (9-5-3, 8-3-0) the lead over the Clippers (4-9-1, 2-8-1 CACC) in the 15th minute, after Sam Jester made a pass into the box and Mansaray took a shot which deflected off a defender and found the back of the net for his ninth goal of the season. With the goal today, Mansaray is now tied for third in the CACC in goals scored.

The Clippers took six total shots on the day and five of them on goal. The Wildcats' Vinny Tasca countered those five shots on goal with five saves for the shutout.  With the five saves today, Tasca now leads the CACC in save percentage at .821, goals against with 14, and a goals against average of 0.88.

The Wildcats win streak started on Saturday, October 7 against Dominican where they won 2-1. They then won on the road on October 11 at Chestnut, 3-0, at home on October 14 against Post, 3-0, away at Tuesday 17 at Bridgeport, 2-1, and today at Concordia, 1-0.

The Wildcats will wrap up their regular season on Wednesday, October 25 as they take on CACC rival Jefferson University. The Rams lead the CACC at 10-0-1 with the Wildcat sitting in third place after Saturday. First kick is scheduled for 3:30 at the WU Athletics Complex.
