4TH QUARTER COMEBACK FALLS SHORT AS DC FALLS TO BARRY UNIVERSITY

The Buccaneers defeated the Chargers by a score of 69-63 to improve to 7-1 on the season. With the loss, the Chargers fall to 6-5 overall on the season.
Alexis Suarez (Poughquag, N.Y.) was the leading scorer for the Chargers with 13 points. Suarez also added five rebounds, three assists, and three steals. Samantha McClutchy (Washington Township, N.J.) finished with 11 points and a team-high seven rebounds.
Taylor Tomlinson (Middletown, N.Y.) added 10 points and three rebounds while Khay'la Latimer (Teaneck, N.J.) finished with nine points and four rebounds.
For the Buccaneers, Harriet Swindells led all scorers with 22 points and recorded five rebounds. Trinity Bosecker scored 16 points and added seven rebounds.
Emma Hergot recorded a double-double by scoring 11 points and pulling down 11 rebounds. Ashia Pool finished with 10 points.
Both teams played a close opening quarter with the Chargers trailing by three points at the start of the second quarter. The Buccaneers led throughout most of the second quarter and held a 39-29 lead at halftime.
In the third quarter, the Buccaneers extended to their largest lead of the game which was 19 points over the Chargers and held a 60-43 lead heading into the fourth quarter.
In the fourth quarter, the Chargers outscored the Buccaneers 20-9 but came up short. DC used a 16-6 run to cut the lead to single digits.The Chargers were able to cut the deficit to 66-63 but were not able to complete the comeback.
DC will be back in action on Monday, December 20th when they meet the University of Findlay in Fort Lauderdale, Florida at 11:00 AM.
