New Haven, Conn. (9/11/21) The Dominican College men's soccer team earned their first win of the 2021 season.
DC defeated the Owls of Southern Connecticut State University by a score of 2-1 to improve to 1-2 overall.
Goalkeeper Lucas Silva Pereria (Divinopolis-MG, Brazil) recorded five saves in the win.
The game was scoreless through most of the first half until DC struck first when Nicholas Julien (Spring Valley, N.Y.) scored for the 1-0 lead.
DC held the 1-0 lead until the 69:55 mark when Matthew Jaansalu tied the game off of an assist from teammate Juan Avila.
Dominican regained the lead when Antonio Zhu Sanchez (Alfafar Valencia, Spain) scored off a pass from Maximino Casares Martinez (Valladolid, Spain) at 77:45.
DC held onto the lead to secure their first victory of the season.
The Chargers will be back in action on Wednesday, September 15th when they return home to host non-conference opponent The College of Staten Island at 2:00 PM.
