LATIMER NETS 1000TH CAREER POINT IN WIN OVER EAGLES

(2/3/22) Dominican College women's basketball player, Khay'la Latimer (Teaneck, N.J.) netted her 1000th career point to help lead the Lady Chargers to an 82-72 win over the visiting Eagles of Post University in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) North Division contest played on Coach Baxter Court in the Hennessy Center.

(2/3/22) Dominican College women's basketball player, Khay'la Latimer (Teaneck, N.J.) netted her 1000th career point to help lead the Lady Chargers to an 82-72 win over the visiting Eagles of Post University in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) North Division contest played on Coach Baxter Court in the Hennessy Center.
The win boosts Dominican to an overall record of 11-10 and a CACC record of 6-5, while Posts falls to 12-5 overall and 6-3 in conference play.
Forward Taylor Tomlinson (Middletown, N.Y.) led all scorers with 23 points and seven rebounds.
Alexis Suarez (Poughquag, N.Y.) scored 15 points, six assists and four steals and Samantha McClutchy (Washington Township, N.J.) netted 12 point.
Latimer finished with 10 points, four rebounds and five assists. Latimer's 1000th career point was scored on a layup with 48 seconds left in the third quarter.
The Eagles were led by Makayla Thompson with 18 points and eight boards, while Sha'Raya Haines posted the games only double-double with 14 points and 11 caroms. Haines also reached the 1000th point milestone tonight as she scored her 1000th point on a layup with 1:38 left in the first quarter.
Post scored the game's only basket, but a 13-4 later in the period put Dominican ahead 26-16 with under a minute left and they closed out the first quarter with a 26-18 advantage.
The Lady Chargers would outscore their opponents 15-13 in the second period to hold a 41-31 lead at the intermission.
Dominican would lead by as many as 16 points in the final quarter as Jaid Harrell (Kingston, N.Y.) hit a jumper to put them up 69-53 en route to the 82-72 win.
DC goes on the road this coming Saturday as they travel to Georgian Court University. Game time is set for 12pm in Lakewood, N.J.
