LADY CHARGERS PICK UP TWO WINS IN THREE GAMES TODAY
Winter Haven, Fla. (3/13/22) The Dominican College softball team won two out of three games played today at The Spring Games. DC lost to the University of New Haven, but took games from Saint Anselm College and Saint Michael's College.

Winter Haven, Fla. (3/13/22) The Dominican College softball team won two out of three games played today at The Spring Games. DC lost to the University of New Haven, but took games from Saint Anselm College and laySaint Michael's College.
Game One: The UNH offense proved to be too much for the Lady Chargers as they quickly built up a 9-0 lead after three innings of play. The lone DC run game in the top of the fourth inning on the one out solo home run to center field by Paige Sasser (Brentwood, Calif.) for the final 9-1 score in five innings.
Sasser went 2-2 in the game with one RBI.
Pitcher Kyra Wiens (Chilliwack, British Columbia) took the loss (0-1), while collecting five strikeouts.
Game Two: DC defeated Saint Anselm College in their second game of the day by the score of 8-4.
Dominican took a 1-0 lead in the first on the RBI sacrifice squeeze bunt from Giovanna Salcido (Diamond Bar, Calif.). Trailing 2-1 heading into the bottom of the third stanza, the Lady Chargers scored four runs as Salcido hit a two-run blast over the right field fence and Sasser later followed with an RBI single through the left side. Right fielder Madison Navarrete (Calimesa, Calif.) produced a two out RBi single through the left side for the 5-2 advantage.
The Lady Chargers added three more runs in the fourth inning as freshman Chloe McIntosh (Menifee, Calif.) delivered a two-run double to left field and later with two outs first basemen Kamryn Raya (Corona, Calif.) hit a run-scoring single through the left side for the 8-2 lead.
Saint Anselm scored two runs in the sixth inning for the final 8-4 Lady Charger win.
McIntosh, Salcido, Raya and Kristin Miscia (Basking Ridge, N.J.) hat two hits a-piece in the win.
Reliever Samantha Carbonara (Newark, Del.) got the win in four and 1/3 innings of work, allowing two runs on four hits and five strikeouts.
Game Three: The game was tied at 10-all after seven innings of play and the eighth began with the international tie breaker rule of a runner being placed on second base. With one out, Sasser picked up the game-winning RBI with a single up the middle for the 11-10 win.
Freshman Brooke Lockwood (Moorpark, Calif.) hit a three-run blast to left center field in the bottom of the third inning and Salcido delivered the two-run home run, also to left center field, to make the score, 9-7.
Lockwood finished the game with three hits and three RBI, while Miscia, Salcido and Toni-Jo Lopez (Sylmar, Calif.) all had two hits in the win.
Carbonara picked up her second win of the day in four innings of relief, allowing two runs (one earned) on three hits and four strikeouts.
Dominican takes on the University of Indianapolis and Southern Connecticut State University tomorrow at The Spring Games.
