Newark, N.J. (3/31/23) The Dominican University New York baseball team completed the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) season series with Bloomfield College this evening by suffering a tough 1-0 loss in a game played at West Side Park.
The game was scoreless through eight and half innings of play with starter Williams Tavarez (Brooklyn, N.Y.) pitching eight innings, striking out a career high 11 batters and scattering just three hits.
In the bottom of the ninth, back-to-back walks to the Bears put the winning run in scoring position and the next batter hit an infield single which allowed the runner to move to third base. An infield single allowed the game-winning run to come home and give BLoomfield the 1-0 win.
Jason Sosa-Rivas (Yonkers, N.Y.) and Christian Fils-Aime (North Babylon, N.Y.) had two hits each in the loss.
The Chargers recorded nine hits, while Bloomfield had five hits.
Dominican (3-23, 0-6 CACC) is scheduled to return to action on Sunday afternoon when they host Goldey-Beacom College.
