Pomona, N.Y. (4/28/22) The Dominican College baseball team dropped a conference game to the Golden Falcons of Felician University by a score of 12-5.
The Chargers fall to 14-29 (11-10 CACC) on the season while Felician improves to 20-19 (13-8 CACC).
Richard Paulino (San Pedro de Macoris, Dominican Republic) hit his 10th homer of the season for the Chargers. Alexander Reyes (Bronx, N.Y.) added an RBI and a walk.
Shane Hewlette (Deer Park, N.Y.) and Ethan Sarmiento (Warwick, N.Y.) each finished with one hit and scored one run.
Edwin Tavarez led the way for the Golden Falcons by going 3-5 and drove in five RBIs. Tavarez finished with a two-run homer and a three-RBI double.
Chris Fernandez drove in four RBIs and finished 2-5 including a double in the win. Jaden Rivera added two hits and drove in one run. Nick Vincelli hit a pinch hit homer in the ninth inning.
The game was scoreless through the first three innings until the Golden Falcons got on the board with four runs in the fourth inning. The Golden Falcons scored seven runs over the next two innings.
DC got on the board in the bottom of the fifth inning after Paulino's solo homer. Trailing 11-1 in the bottom of the sixth inning, DC rallied and scored four runs to cut the deficit to 11-5.
The Golden Falcons extended their lead to 12-5 after the Vincelli homer in the ninth inning to help complete the victory.
The Chargers will look to bounce back when they travel to Wilmington University for a CACC doubleheader with the Wildcats on Saturday, April 30th. Game one is scheduled to begin at 12:00 PM and game two will follow at 3:00 PM.
